If your spending doesn't reach the maximum $6,000, buying gift cards at grocery stores is another way to earn 3x MR (4.5x MR).

Since Amex EveryDay Preferred covers grocery stores and gas stations, it's a very nice credit card if you don't want to carry too many cards in your wallet (Sadly, purchases on dinning only earn 1x MR or 1.5x MR if reaches extra point benefit). Plus, this card offers 30,000 MR sign-up bonus after you spend $2,000 in the first 3 months. After two years of using this card (total 65,000 MR earned) plus the sign-up bonus $30,000, these points (95,000 MR) are more than enough for a Round-Trip Business Class ticket between the US to Asia or Europe if you transfer MR points to All Nippon Airline (ANA) and redeem the mileages. Never say no to business class, free champagne on the flight is waiting
Of course, it requires some effort to do all the transferring points, searching and redeeming flight tickets. If you are too lazy to do all these, using cashback credit cards is another option. Amex Cash EveryDay Preferred has $95 annual fee but also comes with $300 sign-up bonus and 6% cashback on grocery store purchases. No annual fee version, Amex Cash EveryDay has a $225 sign-up bonus and 3% cashback on grocery store purchases as well.
